Parents are not permitted backstage unless they are registered Den Parent volunteers.
What are the hair, makeup & costume rules? ›
Stage Makeup and Hair Requirements
All dancers should wear stage makeup for dress rehearsal and recital. For our youngest dancers, we understand that every family has different comfort levels regarding makeup. Full stage makeup is optional for these dancers; however, we strongly recommend at minimum a red lipstick so facial expressions remain visible on stage. (See resources for videos)
Hair Requirements
Hair should be clean, neat, secure, and performance-ready before arriving at the theatre.
Most Classes
All classes, unless otherwise listed below, will wear a medium-parted ballet bun.
Saturday Ballet Classes
The following classes will wear a traditional high ballet bun with no part:
• Ms. Leah’s Saturday Preschool Ballet
• Ms. Leah’s Saturday Beginner Ballet
• Ms. Adriana’s Saturday Beginner/Intermediate Ballet
Additional Hairstyle Assignments
• Disco Snails: High ponytail
• All Hip-Hop Classes: Braided ponytail
• End of the Road: Medium-parted ponytail
Please use sufficient gel, hairspray, hair ties, and hair pins to ensure hairstyles remain secure throughout the performance.
Costume Hairpieces
If your dancer’s costume came with a hairpiece, please make sure it is brought to both dress rehearsal and recital unless your teacher has specifically told your class not to wear it. Please send hairpieces clearly labeled and kept with your dancer’s costume items whenever possible. This is very important: if one dancer forgets the required hairpiece, it often means the entire class is unable to wear theirs in order to keep the group look uniform.
What should dancers pack for backstage? ›
Please pack a water bottle, clean/non-messy snacks, and quiet activities like colouring books, reading materials, or cards. To help keep areas organized, please label EVERYTHING clearly.
Do dancers need a ticket to watch the show? ›
Dancers performing in the show do not require a ticket and may be brought into the theater to watch with a chaperone. If you would prefer them to sit with you, you must purchase them a ticket, sign them out during intermission, and sign them back in before the finale.
What is the end-of-show pick-up procedure? ›
Preschool & Beginner Families: You will be invited directly to the stage area to collect your child.
All Other Families: You are asked to wait upstairs in the reception area. Dancers will come upstairs to meet you. Please do NOT wait outside the backstage/stage door.
